As China started its national mourning for three days, most websites and major portals have been presented as grey out mode.

We Chinese expressing our moods in colors, for example, to express sorrow in Black and White; to express fortunate and happy in Red. So, my blog’s major color is red, it’s a blessing color.

Some days ago, the victims in the Sichuan earthquake inspired all over world with sadness, the most Chinese Websites changed their sites’ color style to black and white, it is a way to show respects to the victims in the Sichuan earthquake.

By the way, traditional Chinese wedding, people have to dressing in Red clothes; and traditional Chinese funeral people have to dressing in Black clothes, the families have to dressing in White clothes.

Here are some screenshots which have no colour, only black, white or gray tones:

Yahoo China in Black and White color

MSN China in Black and White color

Shang Ning Blog in Black and White color

China.com in Black and White color

Google China (Guge) in Black and White color

Thank you for that explanation. I am sad for the Chinese earthquake victims. I went to Taiwan last year, but didn’t get as far as China. I would love to come some day.

So interesting your blog. I was not aware of the ‘Gray out’ until I saw your blog entry. It is a pity as I would have liked to do the same with my website http://www.beijingguide2008.com/

Keep up the good work :)

That is fascinating. When I first clicked on your blog it was in black and white - I thought it very attractive and was drawn to it for that reason - it looked so different. Still, I am glad the colour is back. I love red.
