The Front Door of The Imperial Palace

This entry was posted on Monday, December 24th, 2007.

KBguy asked me two questions.

1. I always wanted to go to China but don't know where to starts first.

There are a lot of good places, for example, Guizhou, Yunan, Sichuan or Fujian. We have the Yellow Mountains, Jiu Zhai Guo National Park, Lijiang River and the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River and so on. I suggest that you go to Yunan or Tibet, they are the most beautiful provines in China.

I've been to Yunan, but I have not been to Tibet. Yunan, a province of south-central China bordering on Vietnam, Laos, and Burma. There are four topics I blogged about Yunnan:

Yunan and Tibet are beautiful provinces, there are virgin forest and wild animal. If you like modern city, Beijing and Shanghai are the best choice. I reside in Beijing, what is the most famous building of Beijing? The answer is Tiananmen, it is featured on the emblem of the People's Republic of China.

TianAnmen

Tiananmen is the front door of the Imperial Palace. Tiananmen is translated as "The Gate of Heavenly Peace", or be translated as "Gate of Earthly Peacemaking", I named it as "The Front Door of The Imperial Palace" :D

The "door" is 66 meters long, 37 meters wide and 32 meters high. Two lions standing in front of the gate, in Chinese culture, lions are believed to protect humans from evil spirits. Chinese like red color, so the gate is printed in Red. In front of the stands is the palace moat, still filled with water but now containing decorative illuminated fountains.

Now, Beijing is very cold, the first winter snow has broke over Beijing, when you come here, be careful, there are a lot of professional beggars, don't trust them.

2. I am surprise you can't blog in China, or what do you mean?

Yes, I can. But I can not open the blog directly, the hosting server is banned. Why? Clicking here get the answer.
