China uses the Gregorian calendar for civil purposes, but the Chinese lunar calender is also important in China. Each lunar year is associated with one of 12 zodiac animals. The 12 Chinese zodiac animals are: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, pig.

You might found out that Chinese strongly believe that the time of a person's birth day is primary factor in determining that person's characteristics. It is essential in China that every person knows which animal sign he is born under and most of Chinese truly believe that the signs reveal the hidden secrets of a person's character.

So, each Chinese has the zodiac animal attribute. For example, rooster is my Chinese zodiac, it means:

  1. Rooster is the patron saint of me;
  2. I was born in 1981;
  3. I am a brave and hardworking man (active attribute);
  4. My heart can easily swell up (negative attribute);

Here is the "Chinese zodiac - Birth of year" table below:

  • Year of the Rat: 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008
  • Year of the Ox: 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009
  • Year of the Tiger: 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010
  • Year of the Hare: 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011
  • Year of the Dragon: 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012
  • Year of the Snake: 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013
  • Year of the Horse: 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014
  • Year of the Sheep: 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015

Which Chinese zodiac animal is yours?

PS:

  • Dragon years are usually the most popular to have babies;
  • There are more babies born in Dragon years than in any other animal years of the Zodiac;
  • 2008 is the Rat years.
