Stone Forest or Human Forest?

This entry was posted on Wednesday, November 14th, 2007.

The Stone Forest lies about 80 miles to the southeast of Kunming, Yunnan Province. A geological phenomenon, the Stone Forest was a vast expanse of sea during the Paleozoic era, some 270 million years ago. Later, the movement of tectonic plates altered the earth's crust, causing the sea to recede and its limestone bottom to appear, thereby forming land. Due to the constant seeping of rain through the cracks in the limestone, some of the stone formation dissolved and the fissures broadened, producing a group of great sculptures of different shapes, all molded by nature.

Stone Forest

There are many articles and photos about Stone Forest, Stone Forest is a beautiful and wonderful place in these articles and photos, but if you going here, you will finding… finding many many people here, the number of people is more larger than the number of the stones here. So, I think that it is better Stone Forest named Human Forest :D

I’ve visited the Stone Forest twice in my life. The rocks are beautiful to look at and it’s a lovely place to walk around.

I love Yunnan province, the scenery is so beautiful and the people are very friendly. I recommend it to anyone who is thinking of visiting China. It’s also very famous for the different plants that can be found there. It reminds me a little of Ireland, because there’s so much beautiful greenery around.

Thank you for writing about, and including pictures of this beautiful place. Fascinating to know about how it was formed. If I were there, it is a place I would enjoy visiting.
