Legal marry age in world countries

This entry was posted on Tuesday, November 13th, 2007.

I talked with my friends these days, and one of my friends told me he
and his wife married at 17 years old, that's stranging for me, because
Chinese can not marring until 22 years old of man and 20 years old of
woman.

I blogged 'One family one child
', it is about Chinese human population and how to control it by
Chinese goverment. In China, men have to older than 22 years old and
women have to older than 20 years old if they want to marry.

So, I searched about the other countries about the legal marry-age, the result let me surprised:

  • Iran: 9 years old
  • Holland: 12 years old
  • Russia: 14 years old
  • France: 15 years old
  • Philippines: 16 years old
  • Hongkong of China: 16 years old
  • Taiwan of China: 16 years old
  • Korea: man older than 18 and woman older than 16
  • Japan: man older than 18 and woman older than 16
  • British: man older than 18 and woman older than 16
  • Arabia: man older than 11 and woman older than 9

Wow,
how surprised I am, I think they are too young to understand what's
love. Why I'm interesting about the age of marry? Because two weeks
after, my cousin will be married.

There are two entries I blogged before and relate this entrie:

22 years for the male and 20 years for the female are, in my view, reasonable ages to get married. Marriage is about starting a family. A family consists of a mother, a father and one or more children. More children than the family budget is able to afford means poverty and unhappiness. It is a matter of common sense and responsibility.

Please keep sending my your blogs. Thank you.

As soon as Girl or a boy reach a puberty stage - SEX - which is one of basic instinct get installed in them. In majority of society neither the Parents nor the elders in the family talk about sex with their children, who get swayed by MYTHs. Instead of these what is needed is
1) They should talk to them and guide them either by direct talk or guide them to the RIGHT (moral) knowledge so that they know what moral codes should be used and how to control their sex - till they are not married. It is preffreed that instead of transgressing moral codes they be allowed to get married.
2) They should enocurage them to earnn - starting with earning the ‘Pocket Money’ and them becoming Self dependant - with clear understanding that they will be allowed to marry ONLY when they are Self dependant.

I think puppy love is pretty normal. What I see more of in America is friendship, kids hanging out in groups-alot less “going together” or having a steady and more “family” situations as kids have less stable families to go home to.

Add this to your data, the legal age to marry in Colombia, where I’m currently teaching undergraduate and post-gradute English, is only 14 - that’s right - fourteen years of age. Many girls have already had sex by 15 (fifteen) and even at the high school (secondary) level may have one or two children by as early as sixteen or seventeen years of age. Certainly by twenty many, many girls are already parents. Unfortunately, with NO husband either. A lot depends though, on their level of education and expectations. With professional goals in mind, like a university education for example, girls will hold off from getting pregnant through family and other pressures until a later age. This usually is to about 25 to 28 years of age. These girls “RUN THE RISK” though of not being able to get a husband as “older” women of 28 to 30 or more have a very difficult time getting married. So, it’s a sort of “Catch 22″ situation, if you understand that expression.

FYI, in Malaysia it’s 18 for both men or women. It can be younger than that, maybe. But couples need parents consent first.

Philippines: 21 for both male and female; 18 with parental consent; 22-25 with parental advice (knowledge of parents/legal guardians)

i think that even though being young and in love, and wanting to be married as wrong, people should not have the right to tell people it. I say that people that say their in love, and feel it should go for it. NO one else knows what their feelings are, so shouldnt say anything about it

Marriage is the matter of God’s authority, so if you are marrying under age of 25, you are defying God and in trouble.

Marriage, pregnancy, and impregnation are matters of God’s authority, so if you are marrying, pregnant, or impregnated under age of 25, you are defying God and in trouble, mostly facing lethal situation.

The rules for social events can never be decided without following the guidance from heaven. The age of marriage decided by the law of the country always misguides unless it has support of the decree from the creator. The creator has created signs in the body of living creatures the time they are ready to start the activity of reproduction. That sign in human being is puberty. The time when the sign appears depend upon circumstances and social atmosphere. The age of puberty is earlier in rural area where as it is late in urban areas. it is earlier in closed societies, it is later in advanced societies. In view of this it best to be left up to natural phenomena rather then being decided by law. The economic consideration for marriage is myth of urban middle class and can never be deciding factor for physical union.
